Trevor Story belts walk-off homer to break Diamondbacks’ hearts (Video)
Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story belted a walk-off homer against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.
There’s a party in Denver on Sunday night and Trevor Story is the guest of honor. That’s because the Colorado Rockies shortstop just delivered in the best way possible for his club going up against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In the bottom of the ninth and the game tied at 3-3, Story stepped up to the plate looking to get on base for his team. He did much more, as he belted a solo home run to give Colorado a thrilling win.
Trevor Story smashed a walk-off homer for the Rockies against Arizona
When you put that kind of a pitch in front of Story, he’s going to make you pay for it. The Diamondbacks learned this lesson the hard way. Story made the sweetest of contact with the ball and sent it to the trees. The fans on hand erupted in celebration and the Rockies cheered in style.
The smile on Story’s face tells you all about how much that blast meant to him. On the year, the stud infielder is hitting .262, with five homers and 23 RBI. None of his dingers have been bigger than the one we saw on Sunday.
Unfortunately for the Rockies, the team is in the middle of a down campaign. Following the victory over Arizona, Colorado is 18-29 and 12 games back of the San Diego Padres for the division lead. As things stand, it’s not looking too likely that the Rockies will be able to either push for a division title or make the playoffs.
With that said, teams can get hot at any moment. Story’s walk-off could help the Rockies go on a serious run and turn their 2021 around.
