2. Tomáš Hertl, San Jose Sharks

Despite missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year, the question remains the same in San Jose after below-par performance on the ice: Is it time for the Sharks to embrace a rebuild?

San Jose has seemingly re-tooled every year since its Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 2016, but with Tomáš Hertl set to be a UFA after next season, it may finally be the offseason where the Sharks’ brass go “all in” on the idea of tearing it down. Of course, this is all speculation, but the forward’s trade value is bound to be high if the team was to shop him, and the fit on the Oilers would be just as desirable.

Hertl, 27, scored 43 points in 50 games played during the condensed campaign, and like Pavelski, has the ability to play both at center and on the wing. If it really is rebuilding time in San Jose, then Hertl is bound to be on the block and the opportunities for the Oilers to take advantage will be there.
