Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is ready to carry the team if Anthony Davis is to miss Game 5.

The Los Angeles Lakers appeared to be in the drivers seat heading into Game 4 against the Phoenix Suns. Then, the script was officially flipped after star forward Anthony Davis was ruled out in the second half after suffering a left groin strain. That played a huge factor in the Lakers falling 100-92 to the Suns.

Following the loss, LeBron James was asked if he could carry the Lakers if Davis were to miss Game 5 in Phoenix on Tuesday night. James responded by saying that he is up for the challenge, regardless of the end result of Game 5. You can read James’ quote in the tweet below, via Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.

Lakers: LeBron James up to carry team if Anthony Davis misses Game 5

While head coach Frank Vogel said they will have an update on Davis’ status on Monday, multiple reports are saying that the big man is listed as day-to-day.

If James has shown us anything throughout his lengthy career, it is that the can single handedly carry a team all the way to the NBA Finals. Whether that was taking the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA title game in 2007 or in 2018, he has done it before. But, that was in the Eastern Conference. The West is completely different.

James did his best to help the Lakers at least send it to overtime on Sunday, but fell just short. With Davis out, the Lakers only got 19 total points from fellow starters Andre Drummond, Wesley Matthews and Dennis Schroder. Kyle Kuzma, who started in relief of Davis in the second half, scored 11 points while shooting 4-for-11 from the field.

In 38 minutes of playing time on Sunday, James recorded 25 points (10-of-21 from field), 12 rebounds and six assists.

Whether Davis steps on the court or is sitting on the sidelines on Tuesday, James is ready to put the weight of the team on his shoulders.
