Will Aaron Rodgers attend Packers minicamp? Outlook not so good

The Green Bay Packers will hold their mandatory minicamp soon, but it’s still not clear if Aaron Rodgers will attend as his dispute with the team continues.

What’s the next significant milestone in the Aaron Rodgers saga with the Packers? Will he or won’t he attend mandatory minicamp.

Green Bay has been holding OTAs without the star quarterback, but those workouts are voluntary. This time, Rodgers faces a fine if he doesn’t turn up.

Minicamp begins on Tuesday. Head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters on Thursday that Rodgers’ status remains unknown.

“I don’t know. We’ll see come Tuesday,” LaFleur said, per ESPN.

According to Rob Demovsky, Rodgers missed out on a $500,000 workout bonus by skipping OTAs and other offseason programs. He’ll be docked $93,000 if he skips the three-day mandatory minicamp.

Rodgers could certainly turn up for minicamp next week. It would feel like a major surprise.

Nothing has apparently changed between the quarterback and the team. While he has clarified that he has no issues with Jordan Love, the coaching staff, his teammates and the fans in Green Bay, his dispute with management remains. He reportedly has no interest in playing for GM Brian Gutekunst any longer.

While Rodgers has been vacationing in Hawaii, Packers’ management has refused to budge on the idea of trading him. Gutenkunst and company are not interested in letting him walk.

The impasse between the two sides is going to continue until one of them blinks first. It just seems unlikely a $93,000 fine will be the thing that convinces Rodgers to come back. Mandatory minicamp isn’t going to be the turning point in this one.

That means minicamp is likely to be the Love show, just like OTAs were.
