The 2021 Women’s College World Series is captivating fans across the nation.
The Oklahoma Sooners and Florida State Seminoles put on a show Wednesday night in Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series.
Florida State was on the brink of a National Championship after winning Game 1 by a final score of 8-4.
The No.1 ranked Sooners aren’t ready to go home yet though. Oklahoma took a 3-2 lead off a record-breaking two-run homer by Jocelyn Alo. Oklahoma now has 159 home runs this year, an NCAA softball single-season record. It was only fitting that the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year would give the Sooners the lead and the record in one swing.

According to ESPN, Game 1 broke previous viewership records. We wouldn’t be surprised if Game 2 did as well.

A winner-take-all Game 3 is set for Thursday afternoon at 3:00 pm ET. Many are questioning why it wasn’t scheduled for later in the evening.
The deciding game of the college softball championship series is going to be played at 3pm on a Thursday.

This is a disservice to the sport and the athletes.
I know the series was pushed back a day but @espn didn’t give these women the time they deserve. Instead we’ll have to watch a NATIONAL TITLE game at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon. Unacceptable. The players and the sport deserve better.

If the Women’s College World Series continues to excite fans the way it has this year, you can bet it’ll be given a prime time slot sooner than later.
