Starkville Super Regional: Mississippi State vs. Notre Dame schedule, TV info, stream
By Ethan Lee
After Mississippi State beat Campbell and Notre Dame defeated Central Michigan, the Bulldogs and Fighting Irish are primed to face each other in the next round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
For the fifth straight NCAA Baseball Tournament, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have advanced on to a Super Regional. That’s the longest active streak and it ties the longest streak in the Super Regional era of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
While the Bulldogs have been frequent visitors to Super Regionals, it’s been a while since Notre Dame has made it this far in the tournament. The last time Notre Dame made a Super Regional was all the way back in 2002.
It’s been a little while. Mississippi State has made it to the College World Series four times in that same timeframe.
But to be fair, Mississippi State is a college baseball powerhouse while Notre Dame thrives at other sports. The expectations are different because the programs are simply in different places of the college baseball hierarchy, but that helps make this meeting between the two teams a very intriguing one.
Notre Dame has been great this year and could be the sort of team that makes some noise in Omaha if they can advance on to the College World Series. The Fighting Irish have a chip on their shoulder about not getting the opportunity to be a national seed.
In the Starkville Super Regional, Notre Dame has the perfect chance to prove just how good it is.
