Heat: 1 trade and 1 free agent signing for Miami to win the offseason
After being swept out of the playoffs, there are two moves the Miami Heat can make to win the NBA offseason.
That magical trip to the 2020 NBA Finals seems so long ago for the Miami Heat and their fans. The 2021 season was filled with many ups and downs, and how it ended is sure to leave a sour taste in the mouths of Jimmy Butler and company.
The Milwaukee Bucks eliminated the Heat in the first round of the playoffs, and it wasn’t even close. The Bucks dominated Miami en route to a 4-0 series sweep. After a very short 71-day layoff after the NBA bubble, it looks like Erik Spoelstra’s crew just ran out of gas at the end.
Heading into the offseason, the Heat will have a lot of decisions to make. The only players under contract are Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and KZ Okpala. Andre Iguodala and Goran Dragic have team options, meaning Miami will determine if they stay or go.
With their core mainly intact, president Pat Riley will need to work his magic and bring talent to South Beach. The 2021 free-agent class could be ripe with talent, and the trade market could be an asset Miami utilizes as well.
The Heat will surely be busy this NBA offseason, but if they can make this one free-agent signing and acquire this talented player via trade, it will be a huge success.
