Donald Trump says Herschel Walker will run for Senate seat in Georgia

Donald Trump revealed that Herschel Walker told him he will run for a Senate seat in Georgia.
Former United States President Donald Trump reaffirmed the notion former Georgia football and NFL star Herschel Walker will run for a Senate seat in Georgia in 2022.
“He told me he’s going to, and I think he will,” said Trump on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show Tuesday. “I had dinner with him a week ago. He’s a great guy. He’s a patriot. He’s a very loyal person.”
Walker played his first few years of professional football for the USFL’s New Jersey Generals, a team owned by Trump. They have been very close ever since. Walker had been a huge supporter of the former President. He endorsed Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, who ultimately lost to Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in January, respectively.

Georgia went from red to blue in the recent election cycle, but the state is probably more purple than anything. Walker is a college football icon as a three-time All-American and Heisman Trophy winner for Georgia. Later, he played professionally for America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys before a famous trade to the Minnesota Vikings, and had a blue-collar upbringing in rural Wrightsville.
If elected, Walker would join former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville in the Senate after he was elected in Alabama last fall. If he runs, expect the Warnock vs. Walker Senatorial race in Georgia to be a big national story in 2022.
