2. Patrick Patterson

Patterson surely has some intangible value, and his per-36 minute numbers are actually pretty good. But the reality is he has only played a notable amount for the Clippers when others were resting or injured, and he literally never got on the floor in this year’s playoffs.

With Marcus Morris coming back, Serge Ibaka an aforementioned priority re-signing and Nicolas Batum possibly wanted back, the Clippers’ power forward rotation should be filled out quickly with or without consideration for possible outside additions. Patterson was already totally out of the rotation in the playoffs, even with Ibaka out. That was partially due to Tyronn Lue shifting to smaller lineups, but it’s still notable that Patterson was a complete afterthought (if there was even a thought to play him at all).

Patterson will be a free agent, with a limited number of suitors even as a cheap, back-end of the roster veteran addition. For the Clippers, he simply won’t be a priority to bring back and he may find something a little better somewhere else.
