Dallas Cowboys needs insurance in case starter Dak Prescott gets hurt again

The Dallas Cowboys have the talent to win the NFC East this year. Frankly, they had the talent to do so last year, but only got a third of a season out of starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Yes, injuries are a part of the game, but Dallas simply cannot afford a major drop-off at quarterback if Prescott gets hurt again. In short, Foles would be replacing Dalton as Prescott’s backup in 2021.

While Dalton and Foles are comparable players at this point of their careers, Foles’ career has been defined by playoff greatness and Dalton’s has been defined by playoff failure. If Dallas does not win the NFC East this year, that might be the end of the road for head coach Mike McCarthy. Are the Cowboys willing to roll with the trio of Cooper Rush, Ben DiNucci and Garrett Gilbert again?

Dallas might be able to offer the Bears more than Tennessee would in a deal for Foles out of pure desperation. The only real downside here is Foles would be playing for the enemy of the team he is best associated with in the Philadelphia Eagles. Going to the Cowboys may ding his brand a bit, but the Austin, Texas native may get the last laugh if he guides “America’s Team” to the playoffs.

The Cowboys would be a nice fit for Foles, but the Bears may be able to get a better offer for him.
