MLB Trade Rumors are swirling with the deadline approaching, and a losing season means Yankees rumors are only adding fuel to the fire.

Imagine a rational fan base entering this MLB season with expectations of winning a World Series, or at the very least hotly contending for one. Now imagine just about every one of those expectations not being met and how that fan base might react.

Now imagine that fan base belongs to the New York Yankees.

Things are not going well for the Bombers, and they’re especially not going well for fans who less than three months into the season are heading for the exits.

Who can blame them? Hate on Yankees fans all you want, but the team has a roster that should be much better than flirting with .500 and far more superior than fourth-place in the AL East.

Making matter worse is the Boston Red Sox running roughshod through their schedule with the MLB’s best record.

Trade Rumors SZN is usually chaotic for Yankees fans even in a good year, but it’s especially chaotic when things are going poorly. Stars like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton will not be victims of a mass exodus at the trade deadline, and there’s a chance the Yankees stand pat and trade no one — which would be unbelievably hilarious to the other 29 fan bases in a baseball.

If trades do happen, who could be realistic assets the Yankees move either to try and salvage this season or set themselves up for future moves this offseason?

3. Gleyber Torres

Oh, Gleyber.

Next to Gary Sanchez few Yankees players have endured as many peaks and valleys as Gleyber Torres. His most recent slump, coupled with the Yankees miserable losing streak, has fans ready to finally move on from their shortstop.

As easy as it is to troll Yankees fans for panicking at the first sign of trouble, Torres shoulders a lot of the blame for how this season has turned out. Take a gander at his anemic home run and RBI totals or his shoddy fielding, and you begin to see why the Yankees have backfired their way into the basement of the American League.

Torres isn’t the only thing going wrong for the Yankees, and he’s young enough that he’ll undoubtedly turn things around. That’s good news for his trade value, as the Yankees selling high on Torres and using funds to go after a top free agent shortstop this winter would appease fans. His future potential, though, could also be a reason the Yankees eat this current slump and bet on him bouncing back as a key piece of its core next season and in years to come.
