Chelsea want to add Federico Chiesa to their attacking ranks ahead of next season, but Juventus have already knocked back one massive bid.

Erling Haaland isn’t the only high-priced attacking player Thomas Tuchel wants to add to his Chelsea squad this summer. The Blues also want to sign Euro 2020 superstar Federico Chiesa. Unfortunately for the Premier League club, Juventus are in no mood to part with their talented winger.

That’s why The Old Lady have already knocked back a reported £100 million bid from the Premier League club. It’s unclear how much more money Chelsea might need to spend if they want to convince Juventus to part with Chiesa.

It’s easy to understand why Tuchel and his staff would be interested in Chiesa’s services. He was arguably Italy’s best player during his country’s run to the Euro 2020 title. His marauding runs down the right wing tormented opposing defenders. Chiesa made the most of his opportunities by converting a high percentage of those chances into goals.

Can Chelsea get this deal done?

It’s dangerous to bet against the idea of Chelsea landing any player they set their sights on due to their financial power. That doesn’t mean the odds favour them getting this deal across the line.

Juventus are a notoriously stubborn club to negotiate with. That fact is only heightened when it comes to Italian players. They will feel zero pressure to move Chiesa this summer unless the player gives them a strong indication his heart is set on playing at Stamford Bridge.

That’s why Juventus fans should not feel overly concerned about Chiesa’s immediate future. Chelsea may return with another jaw-dropping bid for the Italian superstar, but The Old Lady are not a club that will be strong-armed into selling against their well. If Chelsea do really want to land Chiesa this summer they’re going to need to pay significantly over the odds to get a deal completed.
