Toronto Raptors: Best Ben Simmons trade offer
The Raptors just had a miserable season. A lot of that had to do with them playing all their home games in Tampa, but that did not stop the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning from winning back-to-back Stanley Cups. Two years after winning their first NBA championship, Toronto is picking fourth in the 2021 NBA Draft. They can select a cornerstone or use it to trade in-division for Simmons.
While the talent pool may drop off a bit after No. 3 in the draft, Philadelphia could get someone good with that No. 4 overall selection. Of course, the 76ers will need more than that to part ways with Simmons. That is why a potential sign-and-trade involving Raptors legend and former Villanova star Kyle Lowry could be in the works. Lowry will be a free agent later this summer.
Lowry would be playing in his native Philadelphia and would be the ideal pick-and-roll partner to build a team round with Embiid. Of course, he is in his mid-30s, so maybe the 76ers want a younger player. That is why they cannot rule out potentially sending their best player in Pascal Siakam to the 76ers in this deal to land Simmons. This would be an in-division trade, though.
Ultimately, for any of these teams to get Simmons, they must give up a proven starter/fringe All-Star and their lottery pick. In Minnesota’s case since they do not have one, a rotational player would probably do the trick. Again, these trades are complicated, but these would probably be what Philadelphia’s return would be centered around their a high-profile deal involving Simmons.
Which of these three teams has the best shot at trading for Simmons during the NBA offseason?
