DraftKings British Open PGA DFS picks: Best fantasy golf lineup for The Open
DraftKings British Open picks: $7,000 range
Shane Lowry ($7,900) – The reigning champion at this major, Lowry has played quite well for most of the year in 2021. He’s a strong value and should be a safe bet to make the cut and have a floor of something like a top-30 finish.
Matthew Fitzpatrick ($7,900) – Overall, Fitzpatrick has been a terrific golfer this year and just finished T2 at the Scottish Open, losing in a playoff. But his performance in majors has been lackluster and that’s hard for me to swallow at this point.
Cameron Smith ($7,800) – In the vein of Spieth and Reed in the two previous tiers, Smith is a grinder with a ton of creativity and vision in his game. He tends to rise to the occasion and should play well at the British Open.
Joaquin Niemann ($7,700) – Based on his game, Niemann could be a popular pick this week at Royal St. George’s. However, he’s faltered at key spots far too often for my liking, meaning he might lack the upside of some players around him.
Sergio Garcia ($7,600) – Garcia is a veteran who has found plenty of success, though no victories, at The Open Championship. His bugaboo has been the putter but that is lessened on slower greens that won’t be as penal. This could be a big boom at this price.
Lee Westwood ($7,500) – The early-season form that we saw from Westwood has somewhat dissipated over the past few months, which is disappointing. But with veteran know-how and the ability to still play with the best in the world, he can’t be totally ignored.
Robert Macintyre ($7,300) – Macintyre has played extremely well for a 24-year-old this season and has done well on links-style courses playing in Europe this year. Perhaps he can be the young up-and-comer to stake his claim this week.
Rickie Fowler ($7,300) – This might seem crazy but Fowler has been playing substantially better over the past couple of months. He was T5 here back in 2011 as a youngster and, if he can carry some momentum, he can more than pay off this price.
Harris English ($7,300) – Now healthy after a back injury, English has been back as one of the best ball-strikers in the world. His form has been awesome as of late and he represents substantial value at this price.
Ian Poulter ($7,200) – Poulter pulled out a top-five finish at the Scottish Open last week and has popped up on leaderboards throughout the year, even if he’s fallen back. I like the Englishman’s veteran presence to make a run at the British Open.
Guido Migliozzi ($7,100) – The young Italian, Migliozzi, has been hot as of late and, while his game is imperfect, he’s been on an upswing all year. If you need someone at this price, I’d be fine with having him in my DraftKings lineup.
