2. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders have improved their win total in each of the first three years of the Jon Gruden Era, Part 2 (four, to seven, to eight). The security of a reported 10-year contract is nice for Gruden, but a 19-29 record thus far is not quite what anyone had in mind and 2021 could be a pivotal season. The way he’s wired, as all coaches are, Gruden doesn’t want to keep losing as he runs the show in Vegas.

Apart from ongoing rumors tying them to upgrading from quarterback Derek Carr when the time is right, the Raiders will be hoping Henry Ruggs puts a disappointing rookie season behind him and gets on track to becoming their No. 1 wide receiver this year. For 2022, any plans or hopes could change on both fronts if certain big names are available. Some all-in moves may be in order, as they look to keep pace in what’s lined up to be one of the best divisions in the NFL for years to come.

Looking to next offseason, Las Vegas is top-10 in the league with around $51 million in 2022 cap space. So they won’t be restricted from spending, be it to take on a big-name quarterback (Russell Wilson? Aaron Rodgers?), pony up for a proven No. 1 wide receiver or do both if there are opportunities.

Robinson should see appeal in signing with the Raiders no matter who the quarterback is heading toward 2022. But he and someone of the aforementioned ilk would be a nice proverbial package deal for Gruden and company.
