1. Kris Bryant

The Red Sox should not be done speaking with the Cubs just yet ahead of the deadline. Heading into the second half, Boston could stand to make an upgrade at first base. While you may be thinking that the name heading over from Chicago is Anthony Rizzo, that may not be the case, considering the team’s reported interest in negotiating a contract extension with the veteran.

So, the Red Sox can pivot to adding probably the most versatile player on the market in Kris Bryant.

The 2016 NL MVP has been the subject of trade rumors for quite some time, but it appears the time is now that the Cubs will finally flip him. It does make sense, since Bryant is set to become an impending free agent once the 2021 season reaches its conclusion.

Through 83 games this season, Bryant is slashing .265/.347/.490 while recording 16 home runs, 46 RBI, 50 runs scored and 79 hits.

The Red Sox could use his bat, and it helps that one of the five positions he has played this season is first base for 12 games. Or, they can throw him in the outfield. Either way, the Red Sox should consider making a deal for Bryant ahead or at the deadline.
