2. Kyle Gibson

Next up on the list is fellow veteran hurler Kyle Gibson, who is in the middle of a fantastic campaign for the Texas Rangers. This year, the All-Star hurler is 6-1, with a head-turning 2.29 ERA. Gibson has really been superb for the Rangers.

Just like the Tigers, Texas has been a major letdown in 2021. The Rangers are in last place of the AL West standings with their 35-56 record. Things are so bad for them right now, they’re 20 games back of the first-place Houston Astros.

Yup, it’s not what the fans had in mind. With that said, Texas is obviously going to be sellers at the deadline. With the team having no chance of making it to the postseason, they’re going to want to keep building toward the future as well.

Gibson wouldn’t be cheap for the Mets, but he’d most certainly be worth it. Adding another All-Star to the rotation would send a big, clear message to the rest of the National League. New York has what it takes to go on a deep playoff run. Adding someone like Gibson would only make them even more dangerous.
