2 teams that should save Yermin Mercedes from Tony La Russa

2. Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays lineup, which features four AL All-Stars, would look even more explosive with Mercedes in it. It would also help as he wouldn’t have to carry the load, and could fit into the background as a secondary piece.

Vlad Jr. currently slots as a potential DH option, and obviously he’s not going anywhere. But Mercedes could fill in when Vladdy is playing first base, and with Corey Dickerson currently on the injured list, remains a solid option at the position.

The Blue Jays should be active around the trade deadline, and for good reason. They remain in the AL Wild Card race and a return to Toronto should rejuvenate a young team that could use a punch. Mercedes would fit right in with their flare for the dramatic, and he sure as hell wouldn’t be punished for breaking any unwritten rules.
