3 LSU football players that must step up for Tigers to have a chance at SEC title
1. Myles Brennan or Max Johnson
We know how good Boutte has the chance to be. But his progress could be slowed down by a dud at quarterback for the Tigers.
Myles Brennan and Max Johnson are still fighting for the starting position and there is no news as of yet who will be behind this center.
Whoever the starter is, they will be important to any hope LSU has at getting back to the top of the SEC.
Brennan is a redshirt senior this year and started the first three games of the season last year before being sidelined due to an abdomen injury and missing the rest of the season.
The Tigers might have gone 1-2 but it is hard to pin that on Brennan. The defense gave up 34 and 41 points in losses to Missouri and Mississippi State while Brennan threw for 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions in those three games.
Johnson on the other hand started three games and particularly in the last two games threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns in a win over No. 6 Florida and 435 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Mississippi.
Orgeron has a tough decision to make and whoever he and his coaching staff decide to go with, that person will have a more experienced defense on the other side of the ball.
Based on their performances last season, there might not be a bad choice, but whoever is chosen, their play on the field will be crucial to LSU’s conference title hopes.
