2. New Orleans Saints

There may not be a more perfect landing spot for Aaron Rodgers than on the bayou.

New Orleans is prepping for its first year without Drew Brees in 2021, but it might not be long before they find themselves with another future Hall of Famer under center.

All of the stars align for Rodgers and the Saints to follow the Tom Brady model and win a Super Bowl — or at least seriously contend for one — should he arrive there next season. Sean Payton found ways to make us think that Taysom Hill was a starting-caliber quarterback, and he managed to get more out of Jameis Winston in roughly one play than the Buccaneers did his entire career in Tampa Bay. We’ve all openly fantasized about what it would look like if Rodgers had someone like Michael Thomas to throw to, a fantasy we would see replay out in real-time to devastating effect. Add to that something else Rodgers has never had in Green Bay — Alvin Kamara in his backfield.

One of the common refrains of the early-2010s Packers teams was pondering what Rodgers’ offense might have looked like if he had been blessed with an Adrian Peterson-type running back. Kamara is exactly the type of hybrid back that Rodgers could turn into a human cheat code and so much more if given the chance.

The only thing complicating this is the Saints abysmal cap situation. New Orleans is one of six teams with cap commitments in 2022 that exceed $200, which is extremely not great. They have 39 players on the books for 2022 at a whopping $207.6 million combined.

Yikes.

The Saints have found ways to work salary cap sorcery in the past, and it would take one helluva wave of the wand to make Rodgers work. But if they find out a way to make it happen, Rodgers and the Saints become what Brady and the Bucs were in 2020.
