One of the biggest names on the trading block was Jose Berrios of the Minnesota Twins.
With the 2021 MLB trade deadline upon us, top performers like Minnesota Twins right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios were expected to be on the move.
Though will not be hitting free agency until 2023 with one more year left of arbitration eligibility, the Twins were able to deal their ace to the Toronto Blue Jays hours before Friday afternoon’s deadline. Minnesota was able to land shortstop/centerfielder Austin Martin and right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods-Richardson for essentially a year-and-a-half of Berrios’ services.
While the Blue Jays improved their rotation, the Twins got quite the return for Berrios this July.
The Toronto Blue Jays are in agreement on a deal to acquire right-hander Jose Berrios from the Minnesota Twins, sources tell ESPN. Twins will be getting back multiple prospects. Big get for the Blue Jays, who needed pitching badly and get the best arm. @Ken_Rosenthal was on it.

MLB trade rumors: Did the Minnesota Twins trade RHP Jose Berrios?
This has been nothing short of a frustrating season for the Twins. Minnesota was a postseason team only a year ago, albeit in an expanded field. By parting ways with Berrios perhaps a year sooner than most of us expected, it may signify this team could be heading towards a rebuild. If the Twins are only selling high on their top players, they could be in for a bounce-back season.
Yes, the Twins were able to find a trade partner in the Blue Jays for the two-time All-Star pitcher.
