There are always wily veterans to pick up in free agency, but they don’t always come with four NBA All-Star nods to their name and a track record of reliable production. Paul Millsap does.

The former Denver Nuggets forward has played 15 years in the league. Last year was the first time since 2008 he didn’t maintain a double-digit scoring average. Even so, he averaged 15.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per 36 minutes.

The question for Millsap is what kind of contract he’s looking for and what kind of role he’s willing to accept. Over the last few years with Denver, his minutes steadily dropped. He’s at a point in his career where he can’t expect to start all the time, but he can still contribute at a high level.

He’s positionally flexible and could be a key addition for teams looking to play small ball. Most of all, he brings veteran leadership and experience to the table, particularly when it comes to the playoffs.
