4. Win the battle against Green Bay’s offensive line

Give Aaron Rodgers all the time in the world to throw the football and he’s going to make you pay. Yes, that’s stating the obvious, but this just reminds folks of how important it will be for the New Orleans defense to get pressure on the reigning MVP.

The Packers’ pass-blocking last season was extraordinary. There’s a reason Rodgers was able to throw for 48 touchdowns during the regular season. Unfortunately for Rodgers, Corey Linsley is now with the Los Angeles Chargers and Green Bay’s starting left tackle is on the PUP list.

We’re of course talking about David Bahktiari, who will be out of action for at least the first six weeks of the season. With some shuffling going on for the Green Bay offensive line, there could be some growing pains for the new unit to gel early on.

This will be huge for the New Orleans defensive line, with Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport looking to power their way through with consistency. If New Orleans can apply heavy pressure on Rodgers and throw him off his rhythm a bit, it’d be massive for the Saints as a whole.
