Oregon will be without Kayvon Thibodeaux when the Ducks take on Ohio State on Saturday.

If Oregon is going to upset the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon, they’ll have to do so without arguably the best player in college football.

Kayvon Thibodeaux is officially listed as doubtful after leaving the Week 1 game vs. Fresno State at halftime and appearing on the sidelines in a walking boot. However, Thibodeaux was in street clothes on Saturday morning while his Ducks teammates were going through warmups.

Thibodeaux was injured during the first quarter but played the rest of the first half against Fresno State. Oregon football coach Mario Cristobal said Thibodeaux was day-to-day earlier in the week but didn’t seem overly optimistic that the star defensive end would be ready in time for Saturday’s big non-conference tilt.

Additionally, Oregon may be without reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Justin Flowe. No official designation has been revealed for his status, but like Thibodeaux, he won’t play.

With a healthy Thibodeaux and Flowe, Oregon may have had the personnel on defense to slow C.J. Stroud and the potent Ohio State offense. Without them, it may be a long day for the Oregon defense that squeaked past Fresno State in the opener.

Oregon will need the best game of Anthony Brown’s life to keep the Ducks offense matching Ohio State score-for-score but they face an uphill battle without two of their best players against the No. 3 team in the country.

Ohio State and Oregon kick off at 11 a.m. CT on FOX.
