2. Zach Wilson

Over in Carolina, the New York Jets suffered a rough 19-14 loss to the Panthers. Quarterback Zach Wilson made his first-career NFL start and he looked like a rookie in this one. Yes, there are going to be some growing pains, but Wilson didn’t look sharp in the first half.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Wilson went 20-of-37 for 258 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in this one. He finished with 20 completions and 17 incompletions. That just isn’t impressive whatsoever.

It should be noted that Wilson impressed in the second half, but his first half really was one to forget. In the first 30 minutes of action, Wilson went 0-for-4 on third down, 0-for-4 against the blitz and 0-for-7 under duress.

Wilson was able to bounce back in a big way in the second half, but the fact of the matter is that the offensive line also wasn’t doing a decent job at all in its protection. Moving forward, though, Wilson will need to make overall better decisions with the ball and show a little more confidence under pressure if he wants to put his team in a position to win.
