1. Jameis Winston does it again

The New Orleans Saints were the biggest surprise of Week 1 outside the Houston Texans. They were underdogs “at home” against the Green Bay Packers. They were forced away from the Superdome because of Hurricane Ida’s impacts. They were playing with a new offense that didn’t really have any receivers with name value. Oh, and famous turnover machine Jameis Winston was starting at quarterback.

Well, Winston ended up throwing for five touchdown passes, more than any other quarterback in Week 1. He obviously didn’t have to throw the ball much because he only got 148 yards, but Sean Payton seems to have figured out an offense that will work for the former number-one overall pick.

Winston and the New Orleans Saints face a Carolina Panthers team that allowed an overmatched Zach Wilson to look pretty good on a few drives. Things started off well at first for the Panthers’ defense, but when it was time to throw, Corey Davis went off. Expected someone from the Saints wide receiving core to do the same. Maybe Marquez Callaway gets some love this week after he only had 14 yards last week.

The Saints probably won’t throw a ton again, but they clearly have a plan to use the passing game to score. Taking decision-making or going rogue off the table for Winston is key to making him a viable fantasy option.
