10 TE sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 2
By Jakob Ashlin
Pharaoh Brown, Houston Texans
Rostered: 0.2%
Last week, I listed tight end Jordan Akins as a potential sleeper. Following the Texans’ offseason turnover at the wide receiver position, the team’s tight ends all carried intriguing upside. Akins and rookie Brevin Jordan seemed to be most likely candidates to benefit from the departures of Keke Coutee, Randall Cobb, and Will Fuller V.
In a surprising turn of events, tight end Pharaoh Brown emerged as the Texans’ go-to tight end in the passing game against the Jaguars last Sunday. He had four receptions for 67 yards, which was second on the team behind only Brandin Cooks. Akins failed to haul in either of his two targets, and Jordan was not active for the game.
This Sunday, Brown will face his former team, the Cleveland Browns, and he is reportedly extra motivated:
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
Rostered: 41.1%
Hunter Henry had a relatively quiet season opener against the Miami Dolphins. He caught all three of his targets for 31 yards.
Fellow tight end Jonnu Smith did not restrict Henry’s production, as Smith had only five targets. There is clearly room for both Smith and Henry to produce in New England’s offense.
Both of them will have a better matchup against the New York Jets this Sunday. The Jets allowed the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends last season, while the Dolphins gave up the ninth-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends last season.
