10 TE sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 2
By Jakob Ashlin
Let’s break down 10 tight end sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 2.
Week 1 in the NFL was filled with a lot of surprises. Subsequently, there were several tight ends, who exceeded fantasy football expectations or took on a larger role in their respective offense than anticipated. So, let’s look at ten tight end sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 2.
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans
Rostered: 9.6%
Juwan Johnson was one of my fantasy sleepers last week. Adam Trautman was dealing with an ankle injury, so Johnson could theoretically take on a larger role in the offense. To my surprise, Trautman actually led the Saints in targets, and Johnson still managed to score two touchdowns.
Heading into this week, Johnson holds fantasy upside due to his red zone usage. Johnson and Alvin Kamara were the only two Saints’ player to be targeted multiple times in the red zone against the Packers. Trautman was not targeted in the red zone. So, it appears that Johnson will remain Winston’s go-to tight end in the red zone.
Jared Cook, Los Angeles Chargers
Rostered: 36.3%
Jared Cook continues to be undervalued in fantasy leagues. Cook has an extensive history of TE1 level production, and he flashed that potential, once again, in Week 1.
Cook had five receptions for 56 yards on eight targets. He failed to score a touchdown, but he was targeted by Justin Herbert twice in the red zone.
This week, Cook will a Cowboys’ defense that allowed Rob Gronkowski to score 29 fantasy points last week.
