5. Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos

Melvin Gordon was on this list last week, and he delivered. He was one of five running backs to rush for more than 100 yards thanks mostly to a 70-yard scamper. He added three catches for 17 yards which made for one of the best fantasy days in the league. Gordon is going to continue to be one of the main targets in this offense as Javonte Williams develops. He the trusted source of offense for Teddy Bridgewater.

Gordon probably won’t break another massive run like he did last week, but he could get more involved in the passing game. Until Williams proves he is their main option, Gordon is the best fantasy start in the Broncos backfield.

4. James Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars

Things did not get off to a good start for the Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer era. Now, there are rumors that Meyer might be out the door already. That all spells doom for the Jaguars, but it’s still just Week 1. Let’s all just calm down a little bit. The same goes for James Robinson, who was pretty bad last week against the Texans.

Don’t get too bothered. Everyone and their mother is putting Robinson on their “do not start” list. That’s fine. Meyer gave Carlos Hyde some opportunities, but the Jaguars aren’t going anywhere if Hyde is their top option. Robinson is going to be the player that leads this team to any possible success.
