2. Jameis Winston

In New Orleans, fans were ready to crown Saints quarterback Jameis Winston as the next big thing after an unexpected 38-3 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. Winston, who replaced Drew Brees after he retired at the end of last season, went 14-of-20 and threw for 148 yards and a whopping five touchdowns.

Fast forward to Week 2, New Orleans lost to the Carolina Panthers, 26-7. Winston went 11-of-22 for 111 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. That’s the thing about Jameis, he’s so inconsistent that you’re not sure what version of him is going to show up each week. He’s a good backup, but not a starter.

The Saints were down 17-0 with 33 seconds left in the game on 3rd & 10 and Winston threw a Hail Mary towards the endzone that was intercepted by the Panthers. It was a classic Jameis interception in an act of desperation to put points up on the board entering halftime, but it was a miserable fail.

Sunday’s disappointing loss was the lowest offensive output in New Orleans during the Sean Payton era. Winston desperately needs to work on his consistency and make better decisions under pressure if he expects to have any chance to even halfway fill Brees’ footsteps.
