Cardinals: Edmundo Sosa takes scary HBP on wrist, leaves game (Video)
By Mark Powell
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Edmundo Sosa has been critical for the team during their 12-game win streak, but he could miss time after taking a HBP on the wrist.
Sosa has emerged as the Cardinals’ starting shortstop down the stretch, and despite a few errant moments, has been rather huge for them during their 12-game win streak.
In the first game of a doubleheader against the Cubs, Sosa was drilled in the wrist with a pitch. He was clearly in a lot of pain, and had to leave the game after visiting with the trainer.
Cardinals: Sosa leaves game with injury
Sosa’s ability at the plate has been the most surprising part of his output. So far this season, Sosa is hitting .276 with a .348 OBP and six home runs.
While Sosa is only one of a shortstop tandem with Paul DeJong, he’s already dealt with a wrist injury this season. Another extended absence is one that could end his season altogether.
We’ll have further updates on this story as it develops.
