9. Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

The worst-case scenario for Saquon Barkley is an injury. He’s avoided that so far this season, but this isn’t too far off from terrible for fantasy owners. He has 83 rushing yards over two weeks, three catches, and 13 yards receiving. The Giants’ offensive line is doing him no favors, but he’s struggled to get out of the blocks too. So, why should you trust this player who you likely took with your first-round pick?

Barkley is coming off 10 days of rest after the Giants lost to Washington on Thursday Night Football. Joe Judge had plenty of time to get creative by adding him to the game plan. Barkley is facing the Atlanta Falcons, who have been pretty bad this season. Last week was weird with two straight interceptions for touchdown throwing off the score, but the Giants are clearly ready to lean on Barkley (proof by his 84% offensive snaps).

8. David Montgomery, Chicago Bears

Most people are starting Saquon Barkley and David Montgomery, but with the news of Justin Fields starting this week, and how rough he had it last week, some might be a little worried. Don’t be. David Montgomery is about to put up one of the best fantasy performances of the week. Fields will need a check-down, and since he can extend the play with his feet, those check-downs might come with a ton of yards after the catch.

The Bears are facing a very good Browns front, but they haven’t exactly faced a good running back so far this season. Montgomery is going to do his best work through the air as Matt Nagy will put the best-possible game plan in place for Fields to succeed. Montgomery might not get a lot of rushing yards this week, but he will have plenty of opportunities to score through the air.
