10 D/ST sleepers to target for fantasy football in Week 4
As you look for a defense to deploy in your fantasy football lineups for Week 4, these 10 sleepers should be on the radar.
When setting your fantasy football lineups, finding a suitable team defenses/special teams unit can be difficult. Streaming is a solid way to go, targeting matchups and trying to uncover sneaky plays. If a team has a good return man, that can make them worth a look on the hope of a backdoor touchdown.
Looking to Week 4, you’ll be able to pick up most of these team defenses in fantasy leagues if you haven’t already. With only the Sunday games and the Monday night game to choose from each week, a nice streaming option (the Cincinnati Bengals) was gone again on Thursday night. In Week 3, it was the Carolina Panthers who played Thursday night in a favorable matchup.
When locking in your fantasy lineups for Week 4, here are 10 D/ST sleepers to look into.
Fantasy Football: 10 D/ST sleepers for Week 4
10. Dallas Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers
The Cowboys lead the NFL in takeaways with eight, including six interceptions (two in each game thus far). In their last two games, they’ve allowed 16 offensive points per game.
The Carolina Panthers visit Arlington in Week 4. Quarterback Sam Darnold is playing clean football right now, with just one interception in 107 pass attempts and one fumble lost so far this season. But three games with a new team does not totally erase three seasons of history. Darnold threw 39 interceptions with 20 fumbles in 38 games with the New York Jets from 2018-2020.
Dallas may allow some points on Sunday, in what could be a high-scoring game. But a bet on a couple takeaways and a couple sacks is well-reasoned.
9. Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
If you’re looking for a cheap defense for DFS this week, the Lions are in play. Bears head coach Matt Nagy remains committed to Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback if he’s healthy, and the play-calling did Justin Fields no favors in his first career start Week 3. Nick Foles could be in play to start too, but it’s unlikely.
The Lions held the Baltimore Ravens to 19 points in Week 3, sacking Lamar Jackson four times as well, and they have seven sacks over their last two games. A vulnerable Bears’ offensive line looks to be easy pickings on Sunday.
