The Atlanta Falcons had a 4-12 record in 2020, but eight of those losses were by seven points or fewer. With Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley, and rookie Kyle Pitts, the Falcons figured to still have a productive offense. So, the Falcons seemed to have bounce-back potential for 2021.

Through four games, the Falcons are still having the same problems, and they have a 1-3 record.

The biggest problem remains their defense. The Falcons are struggling to stop anyone, as they have given up a league-high 128 points.

Their pass defense, in particular, has been awful. Opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of 120.1 against the Falcons, which is the highest mark in the league.

To make matters worse, they are failing to force turnovers. The Falcons and the Jets are the only two defenses without an interception this season.

For the Falcons to make the playoffs, their offense has to be dominant. So far, they have been below average scoring a total of 78 points (24th in the NFL).

Luckily, they have a favorable schedule over the next month, which includes matchups against the Jets, Dolphins, and New Orleans Saints. There is a chance that they could return to .500 soon.
