4. Green Bay Packers could use help in the secondary with Jaire Alexander hurt

The Packers could potentially be without their star cornerback, Jaire Alexander, for some time after he suffered an AC joint injury in his right shoulder during the Week 4 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Alexander has been an ever-present figure for the Packers since he was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and he’s made his case as one of the league’s premier cornerbacks in that time.

Without Alexander, the Packers have very little depth at cornerback. That’s why they need Gilmore. But the promise of having Gilmore and Alexander, once he returns, in the secondary is just too tantalizing to turn down. Both excel in man-to-man and zone coverage and can go toe-to-toe with the best receivers in the business.

The Packers are aiming to make it to the Super Bowl in what could be Aaron Rodgers’s final season at Lambeau Field, and they need reassurances that they won’t face the same fate as last season – defeat in the NFC Championship Game. Having someone like Gilmore on the field wouldn’t hurt.
