Broncos run defense stops Najee Harris and Steelers running game

If there is one bright spot on the Broncos defense, it is their ability to stop the running game. Putting last week behind them, due to the fact that the Baltimore Raven are notoriously tough to stop when they’re rushing the ball, opposing teams have had a tough time establishing the run against them.

This season, the Broncos held the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and Jets all under 100 rushing yards. Through four games, Denver’s run defense has only allowed an average of 70.0 yards per game, which is the fifth-fewest in the NFL.

That will not be great news for the Steelers, who looked to improve their running game to help alleviate the pressure off Roethlisberger. Even though rookie Najee Harris has shown early in his NFL career that he can be a difference-maker on the Steelers’ offense, their running attack is the worst in the league. Through four games, Pittsburgh has only gained an average of 55.3 yards per game on the ground.

That will be welcome news to the Broncos’ defense.
