3 NFL coaches who are on the hot seat after Week 6
1. Brian Flores, Miami Dolphins
After what he accomplished in 2019, Brian Flores appeared to be the toast of the NFL town. He took a Miami Dolphins team many expected to be by far the worst in the league and, though they weren’t good, the group was competent. He then followed that up by guiding the team to 10 wins last season.
En route to the 10-win campaign last year, however, we started to see some cracks in the armor. Whether it was the Tua Tagovailoa-Ryan Fitzpatrick carousel, the inconsistency of the team overall, or the fact that Miami struggled against quality competition, it just seemed like something that could be constructed on an unsteady foundation.
Now it’s the 2021 season and things have looked bad. Tua Tagovailoa doesn’t look ready (though part of that might be on general manager Chris Grier for drafting him) and the team has regressed in a number of areas. That all came to a head on Sunday in London as Tua returned but the Dolphins lost to the Jaguars.
Flores doesn’t seem to have the same command over the locker room that he once did and, as is always the bottom line, the Miami Dolphins just aren’t playing as well under him as they were previously. That’s a problem for a team that’s supposed to be getting better and surely raises the temperature on Flores’ seat.
