3 trades Dolphins could make with Tua Tagovailoa
By John Buhler
The Houston Texans are at rock bottom, so there really is not pressure here
As fun as it would be to see Tagovailoa playing somewhere else, this is the most logical outcome. If the Dolphins do trade for Watson, we should expect Tagovailoa to be heading to the Texans. Though Houston has already won more games than anybody outside of the Gulf Coast thought they would to start the year, this is the worst team in the NFL. Tagovailoa makes them better.
While there is still some intrigue in rookie third-round pick Davis Mills under center, he has been fed to the wolves this season like he’s David Carr playing for the 2002 expansion franchise. It’s not great. Frankly, Tagovailoa going to Houston is not that great either, but ultimately, the Texans would be getting an asset that is not carrying dead weight like Watson currently is for the team.
With little to no expectations for this year and beyond, this is not that bad of a spot for Tagovailoa to rebuild his NFL image. If he can get the Texans back to approaching respectability, the city will embrace him. Again, the best quarterback in franchise history is persona non grata If you have doubts about Tagovailoa making it work in Houston, look at what Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates did.
It is hard to imagine that Tagovailoa may not even get to finish his second NFL season with Miami.
