The Patriots passing game will be less explosive

New England actually had a huge play through the air against the Cowboys. Kendrick Bourne beat Trevon Diggs on a double move following a pick six on the previous play from scrimmage. Mac Jones aired it out and hit the former 49er in stride to give New England a late fourth quarter lead.

Passing the ball deep isn’t a Patriot strong suit. They have begun to dabble in it as the weeks go on, but the Patriots offense is still largely what it always has been- short to intermediate passes and not forcing anything downfield.

The Jets pass defense has actually been solid this year. By no means is their secondary elite, but it’s been formidable. At just under 250 passing yards per game, they are a middle of the pack group. They don’t need to be elite to slow down the Patriots, though.

Bourne and Agholor are solid, but not game-changing guys. New England has largely relied on tight end Hunter Henry as the weeks have gone on. If the Jets can take away the perimeter, they can simultaneously key in on the former Charger and slow down New England’s air attack.
