The Patriots run game will continue improving

The Patriots had a big game on the ground against Dallas. Damien Harris eclipsed 100 yards. Rookie Rhamondre Stevenson was also a factor in the red zone, as he had an early touchdown from inside the five.

New England still ranks near the bottom of the league in terms of rushing yards. They are only averaging about 87 yards on the ground per contest.

In contrast, the Jets have struggled at defending the run. New York allows just over 123 yards rushing per game. This plays right into the hand of New England. If the Jets force the Patriots out of their short passing offense and take away anything downfield, New England will need production from their running backs.

Even if the Jets allow the Patriots to throw the underneath passes, that can’t be their only offensive attack. They’ll need to establish some sort of ground attack to keep drives going and keep the Jets offense off the field.

With New England becoming progressively more of a running threat, and the Jets lack of run defense, the Patriots will be able to be a balanced attack. A healthy serving of Stevenson and Harris mixed with Henry and smart decisions by Jones will win the game for the Patriots.
