3 trades the Packers can make to solidify their Super Bowl chances

1. Packers Trade for a wide receiver
Wide receiver has been a need for the Packers for a while now. Davante Adams is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, but the Packers have not had a great receiver across from him, since Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb were in their primes. They’ve managed to get by, but remember that even Tom Brady — who made a career out of performing with a less than superstar-level receiving crew — drove himself out of New England after a lackluster attempt at filling in talent around him.
The Packers cannot make the same mistake.
Speaking of Cobb, he has been a nice addition. He was fantastic in Week 4 against the Steelers with five receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Still, Cobb only plays in 37% of Green Bay’s offensive snaps, and he has been lined up in the slot for 98 of his 139 total snaps. Adding a dynamic receiver on the outside could elevate the Packers’ offense to another level.
There could be a few good options available at the trade deadline, including Brandin Cooks and Odell Beckham Jr., but Michael Gallup may be the best option for the Packers.
Gallup’s cap hit of $2.665 million makes a potential trade more feasible. In addition, Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones alluded to trading away some players in an interview with 105.3 The Fan.
"I think we’ve got a unique situation because we’ve got players coming that we’re going to have to have roster spot room for. So, we’re busy."
The Cowboys are loaded at wide receiver with Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Cedrick Wilson Jr., so trading Gallup, who is set to hit free agency following the season, would make sense for them.
Gallup was fantastic for the Cowboys in 2019 and 2020. He had 1,950 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns across those two seasons. At age 25, Gallup could be the Packers’ WR2 for the foreseeable future.
