5 best fits if Spencer Rattler decides to transfer from Oklahoma
4. Spencer Rattler best transfer fit: Mississippi State Bulldogs
Even if you were dubious of Mike Leach being the right man to lead the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the one thing that most college football fans assumed would happen would be the immediate development of a consistent offense. But midway through his second season with the program, that hasn’t totally transpired.
There have certainly been moments for the Mississippi State offense under Leach but we haven’t seen the high-volume offense that many expected when he arrived. And a big reason for that could be the simple fact that they haven’t had the right quarterback in place for the job. Spencer Rattler would immediately change that.
Let’s get it out of the way that it’s unlikely that a young quarterback with Rattler’s talent would uproot from the southwest where he’s from to go to Starkville. But if we’re just talking about where the quarterback would fit, it’s hard not to almost salivate at the thought of a player with his physical tools operating the Leach Air Raid offense.
Purely based on raw talent, it’s not a stretch to say that Mississippi State has never had a quarterback like Rattler. His arm is legitimately NFL-ready right now and, if Leach could put him in his system and scheme up good spots for him, it could take the Bulldogs to another level.
