1. Bears trade Robert Quinn to Chargers

In the first year of a massive contract he signed to come to Chicago, Robert Quinn was the subject of ire from many fans throughout the 2020 season. He was highly ineffective as he registered a mere 2.0 sacks on the year and wasn’t generating pressure.

Thus, it’s been a pleasant surprise that Quinn has rebounded this year. Prior to going on the COVID-19/Reserve list before the Bucs game, the veteran already had 5.5 sacks on the year and had rejuvenated the Bears pass rush. But with this team going nowhere, they need to strike while the iron is hot.

Quinn’s performance so far this season has raised any trade value but the fact of the matter is that he’s a 31-year-old pass-rusher on a team that’s not going to win this season and is due north of $16 million in each of the next three seasons remaining on his deal.

The Bears could save $6.95 million this year on the salary cap and roughly $4.5 million next year as well by trading Quinn, according to Spotrac. For a team in a tough financial spot, that could be valuable. Moreover, it’s possible that the pass rusher could yield a Day 2 pick for Chicago.

As for the trade partner in the Chargers, Los Angeles has been watching Joey Bosa star but the rest of the defensive front has been pedestrian. Adding a veteran playmaker such as Quinn could make them even more dangerous in the AFC.
