2. Bears trade Nick Foles to Colts

Frankly, it’s wild that Nick Foles still hasn’t been traded at this point.

The Bears entered the season with a quarterback controversy already brewing after they signed Andy Dalton in free agency but then traded up in the first round for Justin Fields. Foles, however, was never seriously a part of that mix at the position, which is why many figured he’d be traded before the season began.

Obviously, that hasn’t happened. And with Fields now entrenched as the starter, Foles seems even further buried on the depth chart, even if he’s still firmly in the QB3 role. But having three serviceable quarterbacks doesn’t do the Bears any good at this point.

Potentially getting a late-round pick for Foles, however, could help the franchise stockpile draft assets that will help them build around Fields. Subsequently, they should be calling a team like the Colts about a potential trade.

Indianapolis has watched Carson Wentz improve this season but, at the same time, the quarterback has already dealt with several injuries. With an unproven depth chart behind Wentz and the familiarity between Foles and Colts head coach Frank Reich, this would make a lot of sense — even if it might give the current QB1 a bit of PTSD about their time in Philadelphia.
