Tennessee Titans: Lions’ DE Trey Flowers

The Lions signed Trey Flowers to a five-year, $90 million contract three years ago by the former Lions’ regime. Now, the Lions are winless and should be sellers at this year’s deadline to try and rebuild for the future. According to Over the Cap, Flowers’ remaining three years of the deal have base salaries of $14.4M, $16M, and 16M. Whoever trades for him will likely have to take this on.

The Titans all of the sudden are in the thick of the playoff race, as they sit atop the AFC South. Their pass rushers Bud Dupree and Harold Landry have been good, but neither seem like a long-term option. Flowers, on the other hand, could become a long-term contributor for a contending Titans team.

The Titans likely wouldn’t have to give up much if they are forced to take on Flowers’s contract, but with restructures to existing contracts, or Flowers’, they can free up the cap to fit him in this year and work it out in the offseason.

Flowers would be an upgrade at pass rush for the Titans and provide a long-term solution for the starting edge position.
