Former Astros outfielder Myles Straw makes World Series appearance
By Ethan Lee
The Houston Astros have a familiar face rooting for them in the stands: Myles Straw, their former outfielder.
As the Houston Astros have made it to the World Series for the third time in the past five seasons, it feels like everyone is rooting against Space City’s MLB team. That is, everyone except a few folks who have remained loyal and supportive of the organization.
While some who have left the team have had a chip on their shoulder, others continue to voice their support for the Astros. That includes Myles Straw, who made the trip to Atlanta for Game 4 of the 2021 World Series to support the Astros against the Atlanta Braves.
Straw, who was recently with Houston and eventually traded to Cleveland so that the Astros could acquire Phil Maton, showed up in Atlanta wearing an Astros jersey and cheering on his former team.
World Series: Myles Straw roots for Astros
Back when he played for Houston, Straw was vocal and embraced the way many outside of Houston perceived his team. He was a little brash and didn’t care if he was booed. The Astros have a generally negative reputation, even though this current roster doesn’t really resemble the one that was part of the sign stealing scandal back in 2017.
Still, that didn’t seem to impact him.
And it’s cool to see Straw continue to show support for the Astros. He’ll likely get some criticism from folks online, but he helped Houston get to this point, and now he’s getting a shot to sit back, relax, and watch the games unfold.
