Bold Prediction #2: Marcedes Lewis is an option

Going right back to the well of the Packers offense, the rumor mill said they were doing their due diligence on the tight end position during the NFL Trade Deadline, but they came up empty. This shows that Matt LaFleur is looking to keep his commitment to the position after the Robert Tonyan injury. Despite coming up empty on the trade market, the Packers have a decent option in house, at least in the red zone.

Marcedes Lewis has been in the league seemingly forever. This is currently his 16th year in the NFL. The current non-quarterbacks with more NFL games than Lewis are Jason Peters and Andrew Whitworth. That’s it. So, Lewis has been around a while.

Lewis probably didn’t expect to have a huge role with this offense, but he likes being in the NFL and the Packers give him a chance to win a Super Bowl. Now he finds himself in a position where he has to perform. He’s caught 9 of his 11 targets so far this season. He should expect to see a lot more targets going his way.

Should you bench Travis Kelce or one of the top five tight ends in the league for Lewis? Of course not, but there are a lot of disappointing tight ends that might make you think. Would the Noah Fant owner hope for a desperate plea to get out of it? How about the daily fantasy player looking for a massive flier this week to save some money? This is a long-shot option for those looking for one.
