Bold Predictions #1: Rodgers-Mahomes combine for 60 fantasy points

Patrick Mahomes has been bad for fantasy and for the Kansas City Chiefs the last two weeks. He was the 16th ranked QB in fantasy in Week 8 and the 22nd ranked QB in points in Week 7. He’s been behind Mike White both weeks. Now, Mahomes is staring at a matchup with the Green Bay Packers, a team that was somehow able to mute the impact of Kyler Murray on Thursday Night Football last week, and now comes into this week with extra rest.

We still expect a huge game from Mahomes. The Chiefs offense just needs to simplify things. There were points against the Giants where they did that, especially on the drive that ended with a Derrick Gore touchdown. However, there are still major issues with turnovers. The Packers have nine interceptions this season, tied for seventh in the NFL.

Still, Mahomes is going to be on the ropes all game. They are in desperation mode, and Mahomes still has some magic in that arm of his. Tyreek Hill had a huge week, and Travis Kelce is facing a wake-up call after his costly fumble against the Giants. The pass catchers are going to do more to get open, and this will lead to a big week from Mahomes.

Do we need to explain the Rodgers side of this? He didn’t have a great week last week, but he lost Allan Lazard and Davante Adams just days before the game after COVID protocols. They should be back, as should Marquez Valdez Scantling. Rodgers might account for 40 of the 60 points here in what should be one of the biggest weeks of the fantasy season.
