Which running backs can help your fantasy football lineup in NFL Week 9?

A disaster happened on Monday. Tests on Derrick Henry’s lower body showed he could be out for the rest of the season. Henry was by far the most trusted running back this season, and now his fantasy football owners are scrambling to find a replacement. There is nobody on the waiver wire or on a team’s bench that is going to replace Henry. That much is obvious, but with some savvy moves, owners can still put together a championship roster.

He’s hardly the only injury this week, but the main headlines this week are the returns. Christian McCaffrey is expected to be activated off IR this week. That’s huge news as the Panthers are trying to navigate life after Sam Darnold (as if such a life exists). David Montgomery might be able to return to the team as early as this week. Heck, even Adrian Petersen, once the greatest fantasy player in the league, is making a comeback to prevalence after he signed with the Tennessee Titans after Henry’s injury.

10. Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins offense has been awful to fantasy owners this season. Myles Gaskin was coming into the season with some muted hype as he tried to build upon last season. The Dolphins were supposed to be good, but that went out the window pretty quickly. The Dolphins are one of the biggest disappointments this season both on the field and in fantasy. Now, they have to face their reckoning by facing the Texans, who are still the owners of the rights to quarterback Deshaun Watson, a player the Dolphins reportedly covet.

It’s a strange situation, but looking purely at the numbers, the Texans stink. They are the only team in the NFL to allow 1,000 yards rushing already. The Texans are awful, and the Dolphins seem interested in getting the ball in Gaskin’s hands again. He had 15 touches last week and 19 touches the week before. If he gets even close to that this week, there will be big holes for him to run through.
