10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 9
By Nick Villano
5. A.J. Dillon, Green Bay Packers
This Chiefs-Packers matchup is completely in flux by the news that Aaron Rodgers is out after contracting COVID-19. What will this matchup be with Jordan Love under center? It’s hard to tell, but it sounds like the running game is going to be more important than it was a few days ago. Davante Adams is returning from his own COVID issues, and the Packers are coming off a 10-day break where they had to revamp the game plan in the middle of the break.
The Packers are going to supplement the running game to make the passing game sing. Aaron Jones is obviously the top guy in this backfield, but A.J. Dillon is still a valuable asset in fantasy. Dillon had 16 carries and 78 yards last week while looking really successful outside of his fumble. If he can hold onto the ball, there’s a good chance he can break a big run against the Chiefs.
4. D’Ernest Johnson, Cleveland Browns
D’Ernest Johnson was the star who put up huge points on Thursday Night Football, and then he scored another touchdown last week as the second option on the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are another team that’s just covered in bad publicity this week as they sent Odell Beckham home from practice and he’s likely seeing the end of the relationship there. The best recipe to ignore bad headlines is a good running game.
Johnson and the Browns are taking on the Cincinnati Bengals who allow 27 points per game to running backs. The Bengals got destroyed by Michael Carter last week. Even if Nick Chubb and Johnson split what Carter got, they’d both have awesome weeks.
